Noah Kahan Chicago Concert reviews
Bravi, Bravi, Bravissimi!
I went to the Sunday Matinee for the Phantom. It was the 12th time I had seen it (yes, I am obsessed). I did not care for the new format as the first "cons." The chandelier was a big disappointment, along with the lack of the staircase that the Noah Kahan comes down with the awesome skull mask during the Masquerade scene. He was not at ALL scary in this version; I didn't even see him at first. This ending was underwhelming and confusing. I also missed the "throne" in the Phantom's lair in which he disappears at the end. To be fair, I realize that this is a traveling show, and obviously the "wow" things have to be scaled down for economy and space of each theater. The cast was excellent for the "pros"!!! Christine and Carlotta were flawless, along with every single other member of the cast! As for the Phantom, I have seen several, and this one (I don't have my Playbill, so I don't have his name--Chris something) was BEYOND PERFECT!!! I have seen many Phantoms, but Chris "nailed" the nuances of the Phantom's personality, and his voice was GORGEOUS!!! Gave me goosebumps!!
